Summer holiday ticket
All young people between the ages of 7 and 19 who are registered in Uppsala County will get a free summer holiday ticket from UL this summer, 2024. Here you can find more information and answers to frequently asked questions.
Who is entitled to a free summer holiday ticket?
- The ticket is valid for those aged 7 to 19, as well as those who turn 20 during the ticket's validity period.
- Youths who are registered in Uppsala county will receive a letter with a personal voucher code to redeem in the UL app. The letter will be sent to their registered address, or to their guardian for those who are under 16. The letter is sent out in the middle of May. Have you not received the letter yet? Contact UL Costumer Sevice: fragaoss@ul.se.
- Youths who live in Uppsala County but do not have a registration address, for example asylum seekers, are also entitled to a free summer holiday ticket but will not receive a letter in the mail. Contact UL Customer Service for more information: fragaoss@ul.se.
- Youths who are registered outside Uppsala County are not offered a free summer holiday ticket from UL, but are welcome to buy a ticket from the regular ticket assortment. Read more about our different youth tickets here.
When and where can I use the ticket?
- The ticket is valid from 1 June 2024 to 31 August 2024, around the clock.
- The ticket is valid for travel with UL's City buses, Regional buses, Mälartåg on the Uppsala-Sala, Uppsala-Gävle and Uppsala-Arlanda/Märsta routes, as well as the SL shuttle on the Uppsala-Knivsta-Arlanda route. Special rules apply to travel with UL's buses to/from Stockholm County, read more about UL and SL here.
Can I get the ticket on a UL card?
- It is possible to exchange the voucher code and get the summer holiday ticket on a UL card instead. It can be done up to 31 May 2024, and it is done at the UL Center at Uppsala central station. Remember to bring the letter with the voucher code that you want to exchange. UL Center is open weekdays at 7.00-19.00 and Saturdays at 9.00-17.00. Closed Sunday and bank holiday.
- A new UL card costs SEK 20 to buy. If you already have a UL card, you can bring it to the UL Center and we will load the summer holiday ticket on that card (note that the ticket cannot be loaded onto on a school card).
- It is not possible to exchange or move the ticket to a UL card if you have already redeemed the voucher code in the UL app.
What if I lose the ticket?
- You must log in/create an account in the UL app before the voucher code is redeemed. That way, if you for example change mobile phone or reinstall the app, you can simply log in to access your ticket again.
- If you have the summer holiday ticket on a UL card, you must register the UL card at ul.se to be able to get a new card if you lose it. The card must be registered before it disappears, it cannot be registered afterwards. Should the registered card disappear, report it at ul.se, and we will send you a new card with a summer holiday ticket. It costs nothing to get a new card, but you have to pay for the trips you need to make while you wait for the new card. Here is a link to the page where you can register your UL card.
How to activate the voucher code in the UL app
- When the voucher code has been redeemed in the UL app, the ticket can be found under the Ticket tab, and automatically becomes valid on June 1, 2024.
- Once the voucher code has been redeemed in the UL app, it cannot be exchanged or moved to a UL card.
- Make sure that you are logged in on the app before you redeem your voucher code. If you reinstall the app or change devices whilst your summer ticket is active, you will need to log on to the UL app to access your ticket.
- The free ticket is a personal offer and cannot be transferred or sent to another app user.
