Ticket inspection

biljettkontrollant kontrollerar en resenärs biljett

It is important that everyone who travels with us has a valid ticket. The purpose of ticket control is, among other things, to increase the number of customers who have a valid ticket during their journey and to counteract fraud and travel with an incorrect ticket. Every ticket purchase makes a difference and contributes to our ability to offer the most developed and stable public transport possible.

Traveling without a valid ticket can result in a surcharge. The amount of the surcharge is currently SEK 1,500.

If you have received a surcharge, you are entitled to travel to your final station within UL's ticket area on the departure for which the surcharge is issued (applies to the SL commuter train and Regional and City bus services). If the surcharge is issued on Mälartåg, you are entitled to travel to the train's final station, even if it is outside UL's ticket area.

Ticket inspectors' duties

Ticket inspectors have several important duties in addition to ticket inspection in public transport, such as being visible to residents and passengers, answering questions and helping passengers find their way around traffic and creating safety.

How a ticket inspection works

Ticket inspection can be carried out on board or in connection with boarding and disembarking during all hours of the day.

UL's ticket inspection can be carried out both in uniform and in civilian clothes. Uniformed ticket inspectors wear our procured supplier's work clothes and a high-visibility vest with the UL logo and the text "Inspector" or "Guard". Civilian ticket inspectors show that they are a ticket inspector by showing their inspector identification. As a passenger, you need to be able to show a valid ticket on site and prove your right to travel at a discounted price if you are traveling with a discounted ticket.

How do I pay a surcharge?

You will receive the surcharge directly from the ticket inspector, no invoice will be sent home. The surcharge contains all the payment information you need to pay. If the surcharge is not paid, the matter will be handed over to a debt collection agency for further processing after the due date. In this case, a statutory reminder fee, debt collection fee and interest will be charged according to the provisions of the Interest Act.

If you have received a surcharge that you believe was issued incorrectly, you can contact us at UL by filling out our surcharge dispute form or writing a letter and sending it to us. A dispute must always be made in writing within ten business days of the date the surcharge was issued.

If the matter is to be represented by someone other than the person to whom the surcharge was issued, a power of attorney must be written and sent to us at UL.
